Good News!

All week long I felt like a college student waiting on the mail.  Of course these days it is all electronic mail. So whenever I wasn’t teaching, or planning, or meeting, I checked my email. Every morning I logged on to the TCRWP site, and I’m just going to admit it right now, from Wednesday on, I probably hit the refresh button twenty times each day, hoping to see an updated message about the status of my application. But no, every time the page refreshed, it said the same thing, Lisa Keeler. Applicant.
“Okay. Maybe it is taking a few extra days for notification.  They’ve had so much snow in the city. I bet they’ve missed days and are still reviewing applications,” I told myself. “I can wait,” I thought. But I really don’t want to, and I really, really want to know, and I really, really, really want to go.
I left school a little early yesterday, to finish up my move and got caught up in boxes and piles and baskets and didn’t even think about checking email for hours. I was too busy trying to clear a path to the sofa bed, as my mom was  arriving for a visit.
I drove into town late in the afternoon to meet my mom. She had never been to my new house, so we agreed to meet at a familiar spot so she could follow me home. I pulled into the parking lo,t and since she wasn’t there yet, I decided to check my email. And… There. It. Was. An email. It said “Reading and Writing Project Registration.” Oh. My. Goodness. An email, in my inbox, from Lucy Calkins. There is a spot for me. Do you have any idea how excited I am?
