I wrote a slice. And then I tried erasure poetry.
Sometimes, when the busyness of the day seems to take over and we find ourselves rushing from one student to another, one classroom to the next , one scheduled meeting to an equally important conversation in the hall, one duty to an urgent email, we stop and take a peaceful pause. We breathe deeply and close our eyes, or not. We loosen our jaws and clear our minds and quiet our bodies and ready ourselves for the next stretch of time. The room fills with silence and all of our muscles and brains smile and sigh, ready now to reengage, to reconnect.
from student to classroom
to conversation in the hall
duty to email,
we stop and pause.
We breathe deeply
and close our eyes, or not
and clear minds
and quiet bodies.
And for the next stretch the room fills with silence
and muscles and brains smile and sigh,
ready to reengage, to reconnect.
